Q What are the undercoating and pads on the sides and bottom of the sink?

The undercoating and pads are the “soundproofing” of the sink. The pads reduce the “pinging” of the sink. And the undercoating helps prevent condensation on the bottom side of the sink.

Q What is the gauge of your sinks and how does the gauge affect the quality?

A gauge is the thickness of the stainless steel. It is important to remember that the lower the gauge, the thicker the stainless steel. Our thickest, sturdiest bowls are 16 gauge, a high-quality bowl is 18 gauge and a standard bowl is 20 gauge. When looking at stainless steel sinks, remember a 20 gauge sink will bend at the seams when you press your thumb against it. An 18 gauge will not give. Beware, not all sinks out there are what they say they are. Always do the “thumb test” when looking at sinks.

Q? What is the typical overhang on countertops?

A. The typical overhang on all exposed edges of countertops is 1″. if you would like an additional overhang on a countertop, island, or raised bar, you must be present when the field measurements are taken by us. This information along with other specifications must be given to the measurer at the time of the measurement.

Q? If I have an overhang of more than 6″ on a countertop or raised bar, do I need any supports?

A. Yes, any stone that has an overhang of at least 6″ on a countertop or raised bar needs to be supported by brackets. We will advise you of how many you will need and what size they need to be. These brackets must be on the job site at the time of the install.

Q? Why do you make a template of the countertops, and how long will it usually take?

A. We template to ensure precision work. A template job takes 2 to 3 hours on average.
