Kerb stone is the boundary on the pavement to distinguish the roadway, sidewalk, green space, separation zone and other parts of the road, which plays a role in ensuring the traffic safety of pedestrians and vehicles and ensuring the neat edge of the pavement. With the development and construction of the city, in order to ensure the safety of vehicles and passers-by, it is very necessary to pave kerb stone on the road.

The material of kerb is generally natural granite, which must be consistent and free from cracks and weathering. The water retaining ultimate compressive strength of granite shall not be less than 100MPa, the abrasion rate of Los Angeles method shall be less than 30%, and the abrasion rate of Deval method shall be less than 5%. In addition, the road kerbs shall be installed firmly, with straight lines, straight bends, no corners, and flat top.

Granite kerb stone has a very strong material, acid and alkali resistance, weathering resistance, and bright color. However, no matter what kind of stone, it has a common weakness, that is, if it is not maintained after use, the stone will have various pathological changes and shorten the life of the stone. Therefore, the following three aspects should be attention.

1. The kerbstone shall be dry and crack proof

Although the stone environment cannot be located in a damp and dark place, it cannot be located in a particularly dry place. Keep a certain humidity, but it is not wet. If the stone is always in a dry environment, the water inside the stone will be absorbed, and the surface of the stone will crack.

2. Stone shall be heat resistant

If stone is often exposed to strong light, its luster will change with the increase of temperature.

3. The kerbstone shall be protected from acid and alkali

The chemical composition of stone is basically neutral. During installation, it is better not to install the stone where there are too many chemical components. The stone is afraid of acid and alkali. When it comes in contact with many substances containing acid and alkali, it will be corroded. In addition, curing agent products cannot be used casually. Many products contain acid and alkali, which is also a threat to the stone.
