Marble Mosaic Tiles Installation And Processing Steps

1、Characteristics, pavement, reinforcement and decoration effect of traditional mosaic
(1) Characteristics of traditional mosaic
The early mosaic only refers to the ceramic granular building materials made of kaolin and fired at high temperature, which is a small square or hexagonal-shaped, 0.5cm thick, 1cm long and 2cm wide;
The color is relatively simple, the dosage is mostly white and black, dark green and dark red are less used, blue is less;

The fired mosaic particles have the characteristics of brittleness, hardness and high density, which are hard wear-resistant materials; the front side of the particles is smooth and the backside is rough.
The smooth surface of mosaic dirt can not be piled into, with a certain acid and alkaline resistance, so most of them are decorated in the toilet floor or steps and other public places.

(2), pavement, reinforcement and decoration effect of traditional mosaic
1. The bonding of traditional mosaic and board is contrary to the current practice of sticking the back net of the mosaic. The board of traditional ceramic mosaic is pasted on the front (smooth) of the component. The board is thick kraft paper, and the bonding material is water-based adhesive with less adhesive force. Generally, the size of each board is 30cm × 30cm;
No matter the size of the mosaic particles, the gap is basically the same; the bonding between the board and the mosaic smooth surface is conducive to the bonding between the back (rough surface) of the particles and the cement.

2. Installation and reinforcement of traditional mosaic
Mosaic installation and reinforcement are completed at one time. First, before the mosaic installation, the leveling of the base layer, namely the mortar layer, is of great importance, and the flatness of the leveling layer (including the corner part) must be accurate; second, after the initial setting of the leveling mortar, a certain thickness of plain cement paste shall be plastered and scraped, and then the mosaic plate shall be installed according to the requirements, and then the wood crab (wooden trowel) shall be used for compaction.
The purpose of using wood crabs to compact is to make the bottom slurry fully squeeze up into the gap between mosaic particles and flush with the smooth surface. See Figure 1 to make the particle component and cement form a solid whole, see Figure 2.

3. After the cement is solidified, the glue under the kraft paper on the mosaic surface shall be moistened and softened with the water spray method. After the kraft paper is removed, the gap shall be filled with cement slurry, and the residual glue shall be removed by rubbing the surface with wood chips. Traditional technology makes scraping cement slurry, mosaic installation, and reinforcement complete at one time. The technology is simple and the strength of components is large.

(3) Decoration effect of traditional mosaic pavement method
From the mosaic ground of existing old buildings, we can summarize three characteristics:
First, the flatness is good, that is, whether it is the treading platform, the toilet floor, or the entire floor of the hall, the flatness is very good, the height difference of mosaic particles is small, which is due to the flatness of the base surface, the consistent thickness of particles and the pavement in place;
Secondly, the gap is symmetrical, that is, the gap between particles is basically the same size, the gap filler is full, and the eye-catching gap sets off each mosaic, which is attributed to the specification of particle arrangement board;
Third, strength is good. Looking at the indoor mosaic floor of the old building, after decades or even hundreds of years, it is rarely seen that the whole piece falls off, or even particles fall off, which fully proves that the overall reinforcement of the gap ensures the firmness of the component, and also shows the advantages of the traditional mosaic installation and reinforcement methods
