Noir St Laurent marble is fine-grained black limestone with golden brown texture and white inlays. It has been extracted in Lawrence, France since 1885.
From a geological point of view, these limestones are located at the level of the "Feilai Peak" or thrust fault

Laurens-Cabrières Devonian period. Local Devonian materials close to 100 m thick are affected by slight contact metamorphism (low temperature and low pressure), which leads to slight compaction of these limestones.
From a petrographic point of view, this "black marble" is a kind of bioclastic limestone with a microcrystalline texture, attributed to the Devonian (Eifelian-Givetian). It is a compact carbonaceous material with almost no karst on a light gray to black background.

Its main features are:
Fine-grained.
There are fossils/occasionally.
Dark gray/black background
Gold and white irregular veins
